June Newsletter Message

Hi there,

I had some ideas of what I’d like to write about in this months newsletter but they all seemed insignificant and insensitive when taking into account the worlds current events. I also didn’t want this to be an email that people opened and felt like ‘F*ck Zita, what a buzz kill’.

Then I thought, Jaysus I won’t send it at all because I’ve no idea what people need to see and they might think I’m a bit of a bollux for spamming their inbox when the world is in a crisis.

But that felt like the worst option because what good is it hiding in the shadows and running away from uncertainty? What good is it being afraid to share? What good is it opting to not reach out and connect, when sometimes it’s easier to continue living in a recluse, little bubble?

So here’s a random story of determination instead.

We went for a quick, one night backpacking trip last weekend, Bagheera’s first one. As we got organized at the launch spot, we left her in the truck.

Anyways, in true Bagheera fashion, she was pissed. She whined and barked at us to be let out. We carried on until from the corner of my eye, I see her jump up on to the open driver seat window. Within a moment, she somehow threw her front paws on to the rearview mirror, back legs on the edge of the window, pulled herself on to the windshield, jumped on to the hood of the truck, only to run down it and leap to the ground.

We were frozen. We couldn’t believe this clumsy, 45lb 4 month old tank had maneuvered the actions of an acrobatic cat.

What I’m getting at, is that if this crazy animal was able to think ‘Fuck it all, I’ll risk it for the biscuit’, why can’t we? Now, more than ever, we need to stick to our truth. We need to not be afraid to speak up and act, especially for those who don’t have a voice. We need to respect our own fears and anxieties but know, that we can push through them and do great things.

I’m here for you. We’re in a shit storm right now and I personally am going to change my own behaviors and education to tackle the problems we’re facing. If you need support in any way, and let’s face it, we all do, lean on me.
