A Bear in Hibernation
Hi friends,
What do we do when things that felt familiar no longer feel familiar at all? Like, it’s as if it’s something foreign altogether?
That’s how my body feels right now. This season, I embraced the lushy, slow movement and stillness and resemble more like a bear living in hibernation. Anything active is a struggle. I go snowboarding 1-2 times a week but I’m not gonna lie, it’s tough to find the motivation to get there.
So I think it’s time for me to wake up.
I’m ready to move and sweat and strengthen my muscles and bones which currently feel like mashed potatoes and spaghetti.
I’ll do it in the ways I know how. Through yoga, spinning and maybe I’ll even start running again.
But it’s hard. I feel stiff and sluggish & have months of stillness to migrate away from.
And there is gratefulness. Because although there has been a lot of sitting, there has been more learning and reading than I’ve done in years. The creative juices for this lil business of mine has been FLOWING. I’ve cuddled Bagheera to the point where I think she might actually be part of me (I started this newsletter off with her 100lb self sitting on my 120lb self on the beanbag. She won the seat haha). I feel calmer and grounded. For the first time ever, I’ve felt the true practice of Yin and the benefits of a softer side.
A balance can (and must) exist though. So now that I have lived the two sides, I know the common thread to walk along.
I’m not sure if you feel the same or not. This new way of life (seclusion of living in the mountain, social distancing, no travel) has definitely shaped my actions. Or at times, inaction. With that, I've decided to offer a new class to the schedule. Unfortunately, I don’t have the space to be present for another livestream class at this time so it’ll be posted on demand. It’ll be a playful flow. We’ll get weird with shapes, transitions and inversions. We’ll build up strength and agility in the body. It’ll take patience and compassion, an open mind and heart but I’m ready and hope you are too.
If you’d like to join me in this journey of yoga, you can sign up for classes through my website or watch on demand in the same place. Links and updates are below.
I’m here for you and look forward to seeing you soon.
